Reminder from ATO: Disclosure to Credit Reporting Bureaus

A reminder from the ATO this week: businesses that meet certain reporting criteria may have their tax debt information disclosed to credit reporting bureaus* unless they are already engaging with the ATO to manage tax debts.

The ATO will write to a business if it intends to disclose its’ tax debt, after which point the business will have 28 days from receiving the notice to take relevant action.

Read details here: https://www.ato.gov.au/General/Paying-the-ATO/If-you-don-t-pay/Disclosure-of-business-tax-debts/

*Credit reporting bureaus that have signed a Deed of Agreement with the ATO to receive tax debt information will be listed on our public register of registered credit reporting bureaus.
